Old Thermo HPLC

I have Spectrasystem TSP, which is equipped with a UV2000 detector. Unfortunately I can not connect this instrument to a computer because I do not have RS232 to DB9 adapter. Would someone be so kind who has a similar system to display scheme for connecting pins inside the adapter.

Thank you very much for the website, but it helped me a lot when someone gave the scheme for connecting pins inside the adapter. This would mean scheme of RS232 (9 or 25 pins) and DB9 (8 pins) and appropriately connecting wires between these two connectors. Of course, it would be the best if someone has this instrument configuration and to see how the wires are connected inside the adapter.

As I understand , you need the connection diagram of the adapter connected to RS232 port of the computer , which has a 8 pin DB9 input.
9 pin RS232 8 pin DB9
1 No connection
2 6
3 5
4 1
5 3
6 8
7 7
8 2
9 No connection
The pin numbers stated as seen from the front side of the sockets.

I just have one little question, whether the scheme of pins connecting from the adapter of this Thermo HPLC instrument? I ask this because on the web you can find a huge number of schemes between these two ports.

Dear Uzman,
Did you under the designation DB9 thought the socket for LAN cable? If you did, have you included the pinout (pin numbers) as given at these links:

The upper left image below following text (socket for LAN cable):In the following image, an 8P8C (RJ45) cable connector is wired to the AT&T 258A/EIA 568B standard.. (pin number for LAN socket)

The important thing is just to confirm that you're in this way numbered pins. Everything else on these links is not important. Also, if there is something other than a LAN socket and rs 232, between the computer and the SN4000 controller, it would be good if you can describe me.

I also numbered the 8P8C( RJ45) socket myself , from left to right ( 1 to 8 ) .
On the web , it is numbered from right to left , please be careful about this.

Dear Uzman,
Looks like I made a good adapter, but in the meantime I found that I do not have another part, and that's another problem for which the instrument probably does not work. Part name is a contact closure wiring harness (A5596-010). Could you draw a diagram inside the black box, if it is not too complicated. From what I understand it's a box of contacts with wires. If it's not too complicated I'd try to make one by myself.

Hi Emmet,
There is no black box on my system but there are some wire connections behind the instruments.
I think this is what you need.
Look at the back side of the instruments , there are some terminals.
Detector has 12 pin , Autosampler has 12 pin and Pump has 8 pin terminals.
Connect the pin 10 of detector to pin 6 of autosampler and pin 7 of pump.
Those pins must be connected together.
Also connect pin 9 of detector to pin 1 of autosampler and pin 3 of pump.
This is ground connection.
What operating system do you use , OS/2 or Windows ?
Some TSP systems use OS/2 based software and they don't need the above wiring.
If you use Windows based ThermoQuest software ( version 4.0 or above ) you must use the wiring.
If you are trying to convert a OS/2 based system to Windows based ThermoQuest software , you must also change the EPROMs in the SN4000 controller , otherwise it will not work.

Hello Emmet ,
You can not run your software with these chips on Windows , they are suitable for OS/2 .
You need V.9.05-A4636-129 chip for running under Windows.
Only one chip is necessary for socket U12 , other sockets will be empty for Windows.
