I have an agilent 1100 HPLC system. The revision of CD-Rom is A.07.01. I want to setup the chemstation on win XP, but the CD-Rom seem to support only win NT. I've tried to setup the bootp server from this CD-Rom on win XP but I can't ping the machine. What should I do???
Hi
This is a relatively old version. This problem is solved elementarily. Installation on сomputers a second hard drive with a suitable operating system. All the same, the existence of pirates, who sell DVDs with free of errors and bugs Winds for $ 3 must be some use.
This is a joke :D , but in any joke there is a small part of the joke. 8)
My computer's hardware is not compatible with win NT. Do you have another solution?
HI, did you ever considered to upgrade your ancient ChemStation to ChemStation B04.03, the latest shipping ChemStation version? You will have Windows 7 and XP support.
With respect to the CAG Bootp server, you do not need it to run the LC, just follow the procedures for the LC and give it a fixed IP address, as well as your network card in the PC. Unless it is IEEE connected of course.

Did you call Agilent already to help you out with this.

Please contact your local Agilent representative for this. Note: this will not be for free I am afraid.

Not what you asked, but we run A.06.03 HPLC and GC software on Windows 2000 software, with no issues.
Your version supports both win 2000 and NT, but win XP is not.
I have found out the problem. The LAN card in the Agilent 1100 HPLC has an IP address 192.168.254.11. This IP is the default value of manufacture. If you try the other IPs, there is no connecting between the PC and the machine.
You can also use the other IP, but you must to change the switches on the LAN card. There is 8 switches and 1 switch has two value 1 and 0 or ON and OFF. The default IP is matched with the switch 5,6 are ON. There are three more options, you can find it on the Agilent's website. Thanks all for your helps.
Congratulations on the successful solution of problems
Thank you for writing. Usually, the problem of choosing to not bother to close the topic => it is insulting. Obtained as an unfinished story in journal.
Dear Le Duy,

I am from Malaysia. In my facility, I have an Agilent 1200 HPLC series. Same like you, I am losing the connection (communication) between the hplc and computer. Kindly help me. I have tried anything that related to the network stuffs, but it was not working. Can you specify on the switch setting that you mentioned previously?
Check the power settings on the network card of the PC. You will find that under configure in the lan card properties. Depending on the type of LAN card there is a Power Management setting. Often by default this setting is to switch off the LAN card to save power.
Also the settings have to be 100 Mbit full duplex, sometimes autosensing does not work properly.

It is possible to set a fixed IP address on the instrument LAN card, so that bootp is no longer required. This would of course has to match the vlan on the pc lan card and subnet settings. at every boot of the LC the IP address will be there. The PC must be booted first and the bootp must be running on the pc before switching on the LC. Else the LC does not get an ip address from bootp and revert to the default ip address for the lan card.

Use a proper cross-cable, better to spend a few ringgit more on a good cable, cat5.

if the computer is also connected to the main LAN, use a second network card to connect to the main lan and use the lan connector on the main board to connect to the LC.

my 2 cents

varossf : many thanks. I will look into it this morning. Will update later
I still can't get the connection between HPLC and PC. Contacted my supplier, did everything but still didn't work. Varossf, FYI our HPLC system is without the control module and using Gina Star software to control the HPLC.

At the moment, my supplier only asked me to check the cables and switch box. When they came for installation, they connected all the LAN cables to the switch and set one PC as a server (not really is, the intention is all the result would be collected and displayed in that PC).

Then, last few weeks, we managed to connect everything the LAN port (on the wall) and at the end of the cable, plug it into the switch. We assumed, if we change the location of the switch from previous location and place it into the current location, it won't affect. But it apparently did affect my HPLC now. Any other suggestions?
Any problem about Agilent GC, HPLC, chemstation, just let us know via engineer201208 at gmail dot com
Thx,
