hi We have a couple of agilent 1100 instruments coupled to PC's running empower 2 .
every once in a while the data collection fails with the following error in message centre.
signal runbuffer full, with a variety of appended errors, such as failed to extract data.
does anyone know of a cause and or workaround for this issue.
thanks

There are several ways to hook an A1100 to Empower, and there are several flavors of Empower.
Please be a bit more specific about your setup - Empower 2 or 3, workgroup, fat client or client server, A1100 via SAT/IN, eSATIN, ethernet or serial connection...
Also, check whether you're making injections prior to data being fully collected/transmitted from the prior injection (can take a while depending on how the A1100 is hooked up in particular).

Setup. Empower2 build 2154 personal.
1 pc connected by ethernet crossover cable to dad of the 1100 stack.
Think there is a tecnical note from waters that deals with this but as we
Have fallen out with waters we no longer have an active service plan and
So access to technical notes etc has been cut off.

Does this always happen w/ the DAD?
Specifically, have you tried DAD settings that would result in lower bandwidth demands?
These would include lower sampling rates, smaller range of wavelengths, higher value for resolution option...
Also, limit the number of other processes running on the fat client while you're collecting data. Have any of these changes been tried?

Hi
Install the last Empower2 service pack and the last agilent LC driver. It can be downloaded from waters.com. If it not fix should be increased the DAD memory. All of the G1315B units have a 2MB buffer. On some detector models, the SIMM memory module can be used to expand the memory up to 4 × 1 MB or up to 4 × 4 MB to accommodate more run buffer (signal and spectral data).
