ECD liner

I have a 5890 with an Agilent ECD. I was suprised to discover that there is a little liner inside of the column adapter. I'm just wondering if this is something that needs to be changed out periodically. The column runs through it so I wouldn't think it gets dirty like an inlet liner. Anybody know?

I think Agilent recommends the liner changed with each column- but we haven't done that. As you point out, the inlet/column should catch any heavy compounds. It pays to examine it, however, to ensure last column wasn't crushed against the taper, and use care when installing.
