Welcome to the forum.
Nobody can give you sensible advice until you tell us what analyses you plan to do with the instrument.

Thank you Peter. Yes, we will use it for water quality analysis in drinking water and waste water treatment.

We use the Agilent 7000C for EPA analysis of Drinking Water, Waste Water and Soils, but we are mostly using in in single quad mode to meet the requirements of the EPA methods. It can be tuned to meet the requirements of the methods though you have to tune it manually as the software for the triple quad does not include the macro to tune it to BFB or DFTPP automatically.
I actually have our instrument set up with two columns, one for purge and trap volatiles and one for direct injection of semi volatile extracts. I can help with this setup if you need that capability.
Right now I am working on a method to take the volatile analytes down to a detection limit of around 0.05ppb using SIM and I have gotten PAH analytes down to 0.01 ppb and lower using 525.3 in SIM mode also.
I really haven't done much with MRM yet, but will be working on pesticides with that soon I hope.

Hi thank you very much for very informative inputs. I am actually interested in your setup of using 2 columns. I may ask you again for the details later. We will mainly use this MS for analysis of chloride-derived impurity in water. Have you ever use other brands except Agilent? Many thanks.

Just Agilent.
and Never go for Shimadzu GC-MS!( I've GC17+QP5000 and 2010 GCMS from them). I hate bad quality of Shimadzu GC's. my first and last choice for GC-MS will be Agilent.
