Packed columns on HP 6890

Help. I am new to HP GC's. I have many years on Perkin Elmers. I am also new here and we have HP6890 GC's. They almost never used packed columns here, but only capillaries. We must run some packed methods and I have installed the column, as I was instructed by someone here. Changed the jet, but the jet sticks down into the column itself. I actually had to remove some packing in order to do this. I have not seen this type of set up before. Are we missing a part that should extend down below the jet, or is this correct? I can not tell from your manuals. Is there somewhere else that I can look for this information, am I missing a part, or what?

Please respond as soon as possible, since this is a critical application. You can call me anytime as this is a cell phone number and I am almost always available.

Thanks in advance

You need Agilent #19231-80530 FID 1/4 inch column adapter, $152 USD or #19231-80520 FID 1/8 inch column adapter ($143). There are different FID jets for capillary and packed columns as well (different lengths, different i.d.s, so make sure you're using the correct one). http://www.chem.agilent.com/ecommerce/p ... bgc=732c6b has a lot of information
