Hi guys,
I am working with an old hp 1090, I have injector problems, I can't run any sample using the swivel arm nor the autosampler, as a partial sequence. I run the injector diagnosis from chemstation and I step on the following errors:
In the case of the swivel arm when I reach the step where I press "needle into vial" it gives me the following errors EI 15 error (according to the logbook) which means no vial in the swivel or wrong type of vial, which is not the case and error EI 24 =magazine of autosampler failed to return to zero position, the only way to bypass that error is to press "carriage to home position''.
In the case of the autosampler something similar is happening: when I press the command ''Initialize magazine'' it gives me error EI21= Magazine failed to find zero position, when I try to reset it gives me again error EI24.Most of the autosampler commands (injector diagnosis) they give me errors and when I try to reset it gives me the usual error EI24. The point is that I don't have much experience at LC and I don't have the service manual of the instrument (a copy would be very helpful).
Sorry for the long post, I would appreciate any help.
Sorry for the very late response. Just in case someone finds this post in the future, it sounds like you have a broken swivel disk. These are very commonly broken. You can check the issue by carefully removing the swivel arm holder and rod (Do Not twist). Remove the two cover plates. Look down into the A/I module and you will see the black disk with slot and IR sensor. This is what turns to move the swivel arm into and out of position. If the swivel arm does not move with some resistance into and out of the inject position, the cause is often that the keyed slot inside the disk is broken. It is also possible that the swivel arm rod has pulled up and out of the disk, making proper positioning impossible (just reseat it).
