I am planning to analyze octanol in GC using RXi5ms column. If some permagnate ions are in analyte the color of solution changed to orange. Will this permagnate ions affect column performance and my analysis?
Thanks in advance.

I assume you will analyze your samples by injecting them directly into the gas chromatograph. In general, salts are not volatile under GC conditions. When you inject them, they will remain in your inlet as a residue. Residues in your inlet can cause problems with reproducibility. You probably will not notice it right away but over time it may become an issue for you. The permanganate should not escape the inlet.
