Is it ok to use completely aqueous mobile phase in ESI-MS (0.1 % FA in water)? Would it hurt the source?

Piotr
no problems with the source (as long as it is only formic acid or other volatile additive). You will have reduced signal compared to mixed water/organic injections
Just be sure the the temperature is high enough to ensure that the water becomes vapor and you don't get condensation on the cone.
