spe/soil extractions

I have a student that wants to do a typical HCl acid extraction of metolachlor from soil but doesn't want to run the extract through a spe cartridge. The analysis is with a c18 column. The inject volume will be probably less than 50 microliters. Does any one know of a problem with this request by the student?

So long as he/she can afford to keep buying columns, no.

Also, in cases like this, SPE is commonly used to improve the sensitivity of an assay. If you don't find anything in 50 microL, this does not mean that there is nothing there...
