macro for updating retention index by running standard alkan

Hi i'm pretty new to macro language.
I realize the peaks from the gas chromatography shifts through time due to temperature change and etc. So i want to create standard retention index. So in the future when i'm trying to detect something from the library, it's about comparing the retention index rather than comparing the retention time which makes it more accurate.
So I'm trying to write a macro to update the retention index of the chemstation once a month by running alkane as standard. That means at the same time i have to update the retention index for each compound in my user library.
How do i do that? Do i need to write separate macro for running the standard and updating the library. Can someone gives me some suggestion or some resources i can dig into?
