Parts for HP 7683 ALS

I have a 7683 autosampler that needs a couple of parts for the sample tray. Specifically, I need the belt that drives the autosampler arm (z-belt) and one of the cogs that the belt runs on. Everything I have found so far calls the tray one part number with no further breakdowns. I can find the belt (I think) but cannot find the cog anywhere. Agilent will not sell me the part I need. My only option according to them is to send in the AS for a bench repair at the tune of $1500. Since the sampler is apart and the broken pieces on my desk, that seems a little ridiculous to me. Can anyone help me find these parts? Thanks!

Google "small parts" and you will have more gear wheels than you know what to do with ! Whether you can find the right one is another question.

Do you know anyone with a 3D printer ?

Try Alpha Omega in NJ. They may have what you need.

I did try Alpha Omega. They have the belt for pretty cheap but don't have the gear. The guy I spoke with also contacted Agilent, who wouldn't allow them to sell one to me either. They did offer to turn one that had issues into a parts unit and sell it to me that way. For the time being, I scavenged the part from another a/s but will still be looking for one. Aim, I will be contacting you shortly to discuss. Peter, we actually did start talking about if we knew anyone with a printer but we don't. I did also just start googling 'small plastic gear' and got a ton of hits. It seems that HP/Agilent used a special design and any gear I bought would need to be modified to fit on the post. Thanks for the help/advice folks!

This is an older thread, but I would like to replace a z-belt on a 7683 series autosampler tray. Could you post how you disassembled yours? I couldn't find a tutorial anywhere and I cannot abide sending out another tray for a $1500 repair, when it only needs a $40 belt replacement. Your advice would be a great help! Please email me directly if you see this and get a chance!

Thank you!

I too am looking for information on how to remove the side of the auto-sampler tray arm in order to diagnose the meaning behind the gripper arm and z-axis error. There are two screw under each end of the arm in the metal brackets connected to the long bars that run front to back of the arm, but I am guessing there is another step needed in order to access those screws.
