Is IBM thinkstation req'd for PC->EPC connection (micromass)

We have an old Quattro LC we are trying to hook back up that has a working EPC, but when we connect our Dell computers to it, the EPC keeps rebooting (looking/trying to access the Dell). We've hooked a IBM computer that is running our QToF EPC system and the connection is permanently established.

Is there a bios setting or a modification to the network card that will allow a Dell(or any other PC for that matter) to connect to the EPC? Or do the EPCs only function when connected to the micromass/waters IBM machine?

You have to set up the workstation with a running ftp server. Look here for basic information:

Good luck,

Thank you for the reply. I did look through that thread and followed all of the things mentioned - the EPC keeps rebooting. In terms of setting up the FTP server, we were provided a set of instructions to follow which allow us to set up the IIS. I am able to cd masslynx, cd vxworks, and get script.txt. Pinging, however, usually results in 'timeout' or 'hardware error', only successfully pinging about 25% of the time due to the EPC restarts. The 'hardware error' is what makes me think that Dells are incompatible with this type of connection.

We finally figured it out. We were using masslynx 4.0 and masslynx 4.1 was the answer instead.
