We currently have two 5890 gcfid, and I'd like to use one of the 5890s for residual solvents analysis via a a headspace autosampler with ms detection. Any suggestions on what ms detectors would be compatible with the 5890, and is there anything I should know before going down this road?

5970, 5972, some early 5973's both need to have the right length transferline and inteface heater. The transferline heater needs to be wired/crimped onto a black connector box (a rectangular thing that plugs into the main board with individual wires crimped into the compartments on it. It is kind of tricky to setup a 5890 that wasn't initially setup to interface with a MSD. Also the last version of Chemstation MSD that was compatible with a 5890 is G1701BA which is from the late 90's and required Windows 2000 SP4 or NT.
