Dear chromatographers,

I have a question on Chemstation and EZChrom. What is the difference between these two softwares (advantages and disadvantages of each software) ? Does i have to choose one of them to run Agilent LC 1290 ? Thank you in advance !

Dear Tchavarat,
Chemstation is software of Agilent, EZChrom is a third-party software from company which Agilent bought. These programs have difference in logic but not very big. Someone like more Chemstation, someone Ezchrom, but Chemstation is more popular especially for LC. So, i prefer Chemstation.

As an addition: Both of them should be able to run a 1290 without problems.
And just as a note: There's no support anymore for both "classic" EzChrom and Chemstation. Right now, there's OpenLab Chemstation edition and OpenLab EzChrom edition which still provide the look and feel of Chemstation resp. EzChrom. I'd suppose they will merge into one in the near future, so there will be no choice anymore...

If you work in GxP controlled environment decide for EZchrom or OpenLab. ChemStation is simple but not GxP compliant. (login, Audit Trail,...)

What do you want to do with it, which environment. Both have advantages. Equal is instrument control and reporting, but peak tables, System Suitability, Grouping, Calibration, Data Management and real time integration is where OpenLAB EZChrom shines.
Both have a different workflow.
ChemStation has a more simple UI which is flat, EZChrom uses application windows that can be selected and sorted at your will. Each products has their aficionados.

So have a look I suggest. You know where to reach me.
