General question about phenyl columns

Why would select this phase and use it ACN since ACN will suppress the pi-pi interactions? thx

it will work as a fairly weak and rigid reverse phase column if used with acetonitrile. It's the sort of thing I'd do if I needed that characteristic and didn't want to go to the expense of buying a special column for a one-off application.
