When it is necessary to abort a run, and I click abort now, the run stops but the 6890GC lost connection with the software for about 22 minutes.
The GC cools down which takes about 5 minutes. Why do I have to wait for 22 minutes before the software will allow me to continue my run.
The bottom of the screen says Operation Aborted and stays there, my setup icon is grayed out and I cannot start another run from my sequence.
Now the run time in the method is 22min. But I stopped the run after 15min, so why does it take 22 minutes before the system comes back online.

That is much too long before the GC and software are connected again. It's not a hardware issue, it's software. :?:
If understand you correctly your GC completes the run after you have aborted the run using your software. Maybe you have also to abort the run directly on your instrument. If I remember correctly the button is labelled with ‘stop’.

It is not uncommon to have to do both, abort the run in software and on the instrument. It depends on the used systems. Please keep in mind that compounds of the aborted injection may are still on the column and will elute during the next run. So you may have to bakeout/purge the column by yourself.

My experience shows that aborting the analysis should be carefully considered since sometimes software/instrument will tend to unexpected behavior. But also this is depending on the concrete used systems - please keep your eyes open.

Best regards
Klaus
thanks for your commit.
it makes sense to stop the GC as soon as I abort, good thinking.
I will try it when I return to work on Jan 5 2015
Don't know Empower with non waters system, but I've seen something similar with our Acquity system. Setup buton stays inactive.
Try to "reset" the module(s) in the run samples (right clicking\reset) or console screen.
