Dear friends,
I believe there must be many well-experienced chemists in analysis of pesticide residues. My analytes will be herb and herb extract.
I have two questions for help,
1. From a reference, I know FDA have one set of test methods for pesticide residue. How can I get it and is it free?
2. I am prepared to establish facilities. I need know, between HPLC-MS and GC-MS, which one is more suitable or general for this kind of test?
Thank in Advance.

Hello michelle
you can find the Pesticide Analitycal Manual (PAM) in this adress:
http://vm.cfsan.fda.gov/~frf/pami3.html
I am not costumized with HPLC/MS but GC/MC cover a broader number of pesticides, but Herbicides like gliphosate and carbamate you need HPLC with post column derivatation, triazine and triazole herb you can you HPLC or GC. I would prefer GC/MS.

This is not part of your question, but did you have thought about to use SPE, please check this link, will give you a good idea.

you can read the aplication note: Solid Phase Extraction of Pesticides from Fruits and Vegetables, for Analysis by GC or HPLC

Hi Michelle,
I have a lot of experince in residues analysis (specially in pesticide). The best choice for pesticide analysis (in fruits) is the ChECheRS method for sample preparation and LC-MS/MS.

I'll sent to you an e-mail with attachment of this issue

Cheers
