Hello guys,
The sentence from "Column user guide for Agilent Normal-Phase and HILIC Columns" :
"The RRHD Hilic column cannot be backflushed."
Why is that ? They mount 0.5μm column inlet frit...so whats the problem with backflushing ?
Any other reason ?

Sometimes, during the column packing process the pore size of the outlet frit is actually higher than the particle size. I have never seen particles flushing out of the frit. I feel this is an unfounded fear that the particles will flow out of the frit if the pore size is similar as the particles. This apparently never happens. I may be wrong.

Much in the same way the particle diameter is a Gaussian distribution, so is the pore size of the inlet frit. So, it is not outside the realm of possibilities that you could lose some particles by back flushing.

Why not ask Agilent if they will replace the inlet frit for you.
