Should it be stated in your Procedures how often you repalce the lamp?
Thanks in advance

Discussions about HPLC, CE, TLC, SFC, and other "liquid phase" separation techniques.
Objection: For Pharma the Bottom line is that you use the lamp as long as it's appropriate for the specific analysis. An old lamp might lead to a significant higher LOQ of your methods. Related substances, trace analysis and similar therefore should include some sort of System suitability check (e.g. signal/noise of a low-concentrated sample in the specification region) to verify the lamp energy is still high enough. For other, high-concentrated stuff I'd follow your suggestion - use it until it breaks. The software should tell you that you should change your UV lamp via intensity of lamp. But bottom line you use lamp until it breaks down.
