Hello

Recently we bought a Trapping/flow through flowpath STF configuration and we are interested to connect it to agilent 6850 GC with a 4 port switching valve. Now I need to find the correct cable to connect it. If we should connect it to a RS232 (DB9), then should we connect it to the RS232 port on the PC or behind the GC?

I asked a vici company guy and he introduced a cable that connects behinde the GC but I do not have those port behinde my agilent GC. The page 17 of this manual shows the back of my GC.

I connect my valve with RS232 to my computer and I can give command to it with computer but can not see that on my chemstation (Ver A10.01).

If you help me with this it can really be great.

Best regards

Saeed

Stream selector valves used with Agilent GC's should be configured to give a BCD output and use contact closure to operate. The 6850 and ChemStation do NOT use RS232. You would then configure a valve as a 'MPV' (Multi Position Valve) in ChemStation, and this is normally Valve 7. I am not familiar with the 6850 with ChemStation, and as the 6850 usually only allows one valve I am not sure how the second valve is presented in ChemStation.
