Just wondering is anyone had tried or is using EPA 525.3? What are the pros/cons of switching from 525.2 to 525.3?
Thanks!

We haven't started using it yet, but are working on setting up for it.
One pro I can think of is that it allow for using SIM mode which will allow for lower detection limits. We are hoping we can use that to get detection limits for our pesticides that will meet the regulatory limits here so we can use a single extraction to replace needing to run EPA 507 and 508. Also it allows for the Internal Standards to be added after extraction and to be able to calibrate using standards that are not run through the extraction process. Easier to pass QC requirements but can give a little less accuracy depending on how rugged your extraction procedure is.
If they would just allow MRM based analysis, then I know I could replace all of my other ECD and NPD based drinking water analysis with a single MS run.
I have been in contact with Restek, they don't yet offer a specific 525.3 set of standards, but if enough people begin asking they will probably work up a set with the internal standards and surrogates that are different from 525.2. The main one I hope they add is the labeled Pentachlorophenol, that one is not as easy to find and the rest.
