Mass Hunter for GC-MS but also QQQ

Discussions about chromatography data systems, LIMS, controllers, computer issues and related topics.

Hi everyone
I am opening up this discussion to see how the use of MH for GC-MS is going but also if anyone has information about MH for QQQ (6430).
I am curious about good experiences and bad experiences using these set-ups

We have MH for QQQ on a HP computer supplied by Agilent - generally it works okay but we get weird things on occasion such as the status of the vacuum not updating or the values displayed not being the same for the diagnosis and the system status screens.
We were advised to run another computer for MH data analysis rather than try both MH acquisition and analysis on the same PC at the same time

For MH GC-MS we installed the software on one of our in house Win7 machines that had previously had MSD Chemstation on it. We did remove MSD Chemstation firstly but didn't reimage or anything.
Our GC-MS is the 5975-7890 combination.

Has anyone found this combination with MH stable.
I ask we get a lot of weird errors including some that make me think that the software should say beta on it. As far as we know we are running the most up to date version and service packs - or that is what Agilent told us
I am not going to list all of our issues to date but here is a common one

The data path for directories especially for single run mode but also on occasion for sequences seems to change almost randomly. We set up a valid directory and then after running the sample find that the data is in some directory previously used - not even the last one used. The current directory path is there when you save the directory path but may not be there when you go back to the same screen afterwards

This isn't a MH bashing posting - I was just curious as to people's specific experiences and if anyone else has come across issues of this type. We want to move forwrad with MH on all our MS's plus GCs and HPLCs but things aren't going smoothly so far.
Service have tried to help us but with no success so far with many of these GC-MS related issues.

Dear Kevin
I think Chemstation for GCMSD is really stable and workhorse. I'm not going to use masshunter for acquisition.even, analysis by chemstation is really easy and comprehensive.
you'll get many errors and many crashs.
this is my opinion of course.

Our system consists of a 7890B, QQQ(7000C), Headspace(7697A), FID, and 7693 autosampler. I have used MH for GC-QQQ and HS-GC-FID instrument control and data analysis. I have found that while controlling the instruments the software will sometimes give unusual displays or sometimes crash. In all of my cases it has been because I did not not have an instrument configured correctly. For example, I was doing a HS-GC-FID analysis and I had the QQQ shutdown. MH did not like this and I could not make a run until all instruments were up and running. So far as long as all the instruments connected to this system are up and running with no problems, I can then connect with MH with no problems. I have not had any problems with Qual or Quant. I should mention that I have only used the system for about 3 months. We have a HP computer that is used for both instrument control an data analysis.
