5973 (GCMS) troubleshooting

I'm in the process of reviving an Agilent GCMS system (5973/6890) and have come across an error: "Server not Found! Check LAN connection."

This error occurs at initial startup of the GCMS. The PC (that probably has the software) is not connected.
YES, I know its because the PC isn't connected....etc.

I want to know how to pump down the MS without having to connect the PC!

Anyone have experience with such a situation?

Then simply turn on GC and MSD. It will start pumping down automaticaly, no need to have PC connected.
If not then MSD has it's own Menu key under the display
I guess you should ask another question sometime - how to vent MSD without PC.
You will find the right answer under the Menu key

Menu - click until you get Maintenance and then - pump down - yes

Thank You for the responses. I know my question sounded ignorant based on dblux's reply.

But, when the MSD is turned on, it initializes then immediately indicates "seeking server, bootp queries: 1" and then just continues to seek for the server.

I am familiar with pumping down without software & using the keypad to pump down or vent, but this one wont let me do it.

The keypad on the MSD (5973) does not respond to any key entries.


The GC and MSD come on, the rough pump starts,....
then I get the statement above. within a few minutes, the rough pump shuts down.

I couldn't know about it, sorry.
Found sth for you:
Control panel says “No server found”
• Disconnected LAN cable between MSD and the hub, or the hub and the PC
• PC is turned off
• Holding the No/Cancel key down for five seconds will bypass error and allow the
user to look at the Local Control Panel.

As dblux_ mentioned,

As the IP address and subnet are in the volatile memory, it is querying for the BootP server
So press the No/Cancel button for 5 seconds when it is querying for the BootP server.

Then manually put in the IP and the Subnet, and then finally yes to update with new IP information,
which will be saved it in the non-volatile memory.

I am guessing it is not a turbo molecular pump, as even if it was, IMHO I won't turn up the
temperatures unless, I had a PC connected to it to check for leaks.

Thank you all for the responses. I ended up reviving the PC. As soon as the PC was alive, the MS found the server and started right up.
