Wanted - FID for Bruker 450GC

Hi All.
If this is in the wrong forum or improper feel free to move or delete.
I have a Bruker 450GC that was used as a GCMS, and we've scrapped the MS. I'm looking for an FID to slap on so I can use the instrument for R&D. The catch - I will not do business with Bruker. Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

As the Bruker GC is just a Varian, there are plenty of second hand detectors out there and in most countries third party suppliers who could carry out the work.

Forgive me, as I'm fairly new to tinkering. Can I put a legacy Varian detector on there if I get the board? I have a line on a cheap detector from a 3400.

Probably not, the Bruker 450 is the same as the Varian 3800, the Bruker 430 is the Varian 3900. The 3400 is much older, I can't comment if it even has the same electrometer board. The detector head is probably the same but I very much doubt that the digital flow control is the same. Best look for a more modern source. It's not the easiest DIY, you might be advised to go to a third party supplier who knows this GC type.
Might even be cheaper and better to trade your GC (and sampler) with one for a GC with FID (and sampler)

So...does anyone have suggestions for contractors in the Southern California area?
