Chromeleon Instrument PQ Report: Missing First Impression

Hello everybody

I just have completed my Instrument PQ using Chromeleon 6.8. On the printout of injector flow and repro, there are two graphs that should show the deviation of retention time and peak area. In my printout, instead of the graphs, I see "Unable to find First Impression. Make sure the directory containing First Impression is in your path. If you don't own First Impression please call Visual Components at (800)884-8665 for ordering information".

This is strange, I looked in my last year's PQ and the graphs were fine. I am sure I did not change anything in my windows or Chromeleon installation. Any idea where to find First Impression?

(No, I did not yet ask Dionex, erm, Thermo so far, usually helpful response comes quicker here...)

Thanks
Jörg

Q: Do you know why first impression is so important ?
A: Because it is very unique, it occures only once and can't be repeated. :D

There is something called "Chromeleon IQ". Maybe it could find corrupted files or so ....
Chromeleon IQ passes without error, so I guess everything should be in it's place.
I also found two files that I could link to this component (according to some googling):
windows\system32\VCFI5.ocx and windows\system32\FCFIWZ5.dll
Anyway, it does not work :(
Hi,

What Service Release of 6.8 are you running?

Have you tried re-running the installation? as well as the IQ?

Hi Anthony

I'm running 6.8 SR11. New installation is not an option, this is a regulated lab. And IQ Check says everything is fine.

Regards,
Jörg
Hi Jorg,

Firstly, I would definitely recommend that you contact the HelpDesk, they will be based placed to assist you.

From your description it sounds like you have a corruption of the .ocx file, which controls the charting function. Unfortunately, all things being equal, re-running the installation may probably be the only solution. If this is the case, it may also be worth considering updating to the latest service release, SR14. However, as I said, contact the Helpdesk and they will be able to advise you.

I am presuming you have gone through the usual procedure of re-booting, etc...?
