Chromeleon 6, DX Lan, and Windows 7

Hello,
We have an old Dionex AS50 auto sampler that we are trying to resurrect and operate with Chromeleon. It has the old DX/Lan connection and relies on NetBeui for communication with the computer. We have quickly learned that Windows 7 no longer supports this and have to fall back to Chromeleon 6 with Windows XP.
What we would like to do is run Chromeleon 6.8 in XP mode on a Windows 7 machine so we have something that resembles a current operating system. Unfortunately we are having issues with Chromeleon properly recognizing the key/license. XP mode, Chromeleon 6, and NetBeui all installed without any issue. Chromeleon seems to open ok in the demo mode, but things go bad (bsod, restarts, freezes, etc. on the virtual machine) when we try to license information.
Anyone else have any experience (and hopefully success) with running old Thermo/Dionex instruments on current IT systems? Any help and/or recommendations are greatly appreciated.
Thanks
sTeven

Is WibuKey installed on the virtual machine?

Why don't you just install XP on the workstation and keep it separated from the internet? No hassle with virtual PCs and not really a security risk.
