We are studying 2 methods of LCMSMS analysis of malachite green that use lead oxide to convert the leuco form to the parent form. Is there an LCMSMS method that does not require this conversion?

Two versions were presented at the 2005 AOAC meeting last week. One by CFIA has already been published (http://www.aoac.org/pubs/New_Journal/20 ... malach.htm)--it moniters both MG and leucoMG by LC-MS-MS. One soon to be published by FDA does a pre-column derivatization. Advantage of the latter method is that you could use an LC-UV detector (if you don't need to confirm).
