Hello all,

I have a

GC: HP 6890
MSD: HP 5973

when I try to load the chemstation, everything connects properly but when it gets to the "Loading GC 6980.."
I receive an error message saying "Cannot bring up GC"
and after I click ok another window pops up saying "The Chemstation did not complete its initiation cycle"
Then the application closes and I am prompted with this error log

I wasn't sure if the whole log was necessary but this was at the bottom of the page

Has anyone encountered anything like this before? If so, how did you solve the problem?

Thanks in advance
Hello

The easiest way you can try is to configure GC and MS again. To do it you need to open MS Chemstation config (it should be on the desktop after installation or under start-programs-MSD Chemstation config).
You need to remove all instruments (GC and MS) and create them again (initialization file will be created again). Just make sure that you use correct IP for GC and MS and correct polarization -/+ for Quad.

Hello Mr. Kubowicz,

I did exactly what you told me to do, removed all the instruments and created them again, but the software still did not initialize all the way. It prompted the same error messages with the same error log

Any other ideas?

Thanks again
Hello

If it is something with .dll files I'd suspect that MSD Chemstation library files were overwritten by something else (perhaps other installed programme).
You can try restoring your computer's system to an earlier date when everything worked correctly. It is simple Winows restore procedure.

Hi STC,

I have had a similar problem, but the cause may no be the same, only the symptoms.

I was creating a VirtualBox Virtual PC, and was getting the initialisation error
and discovered that the HardDisk access speed was not fast enough when I
used Novobench, other HDD benchmark systems showed good speed,

So maybe you need to defragment your hard drive, or free up space?

Also, create a MS Configuration, see if it starts with no GC present, as I have discovered
that unless you power cycle both GC & MS when restarting, the GC knows that the
Chemstation software is different, as it must store in its ram, the GC column specifications.

hope this helps, or points you in the right direction.

regards
Alex
Thanks for the help everyone, I'll try and implement those suggestions
