HP5890 inlet seal question (0.8 mm vs 1.2 mm)

Hello,

I've noticed that there are 0.8 mm inlet seals and also 1.2 mm inlet seals (the gold disc with a hole in it under the injection port, in the oven) available for the HP5890 GC.

Why would one chose the 1.2 mm seal over the 0.8 mm seal? I'm pretty sure I've got the 0.8 mm seal but I don't have a way to measure it at the moment.

Thanks!

Hello

The 1.2mm inlet seal is recommended for use with Vespel/graphite ferrules or when installing two columns using a two-hole ferrule.

The 1.2mm seal is designed for a special use where you need to connect 1/16 metal tubing to the capillary inlet and this tubing then goes to a valve system or some other device. Another use would be if you were using micro-packed columns. If you were to use this seal with 1/16 tubing, you will also need a modified column nut which will also allow you to use 1/16 tubing. This column nut has the part number 18740-21190.
