Hello everyone. I'm new in the forum. I hope to express myself clearly enough since my English is very basic. I'm trying to open a *. cdf file with the sotfware AMDIS. The following message appears: "Fast User Switching must be disabled for reliable operation of the Varian Workstation. This feature must be disabled by an Administrator."

Can anyone tell me what to do? I do not understand if this is something that I have to change in settings of AMDIS or it is about something that have to be changed when convert a shimadzu.qgd file at .cdf. I have no access to the Varian GC MS, I used a GCMS shimadzu QP2010 and save the file as .qgd.

Thanks for your help!
Hi goriaghetti,

would you mind to send me one of your files giving problems? I would have a look at it and may be able help.
Just contact me via the OpenChrom website (http://www.openchrom.net).

Best regards
Andreas
Hello gorlaghetti,

when you start up AMDIS,
Click on Analyze ->Settings
Click on the Instr. tab

What does read under "Data file Format" ?

alternatively

Click on File ->Open
then select from the Instrument dropdown box
NetCDF(*.cdf)

p.s. AMDIS wants the user to have administrator rights, otherwise you can't change the libraries

Alex
gorlaghetti,

You may already have been told what to about this particular problem. You don't say what OS you are using. This description relates to Windows XP.

Select the Start button.

From the Star-button Menu, select Control Panel.

From the Control-Panel Menu, select User Accounts.

On the User Accounts dialog box, select select Change the way users log on or off.

On the resulting Select logon and logoff options dialog box. un-check Use Fast User Switching and check Use Welcome screen.

Click the Apply Options button.

This should resolve your problem.
Regards;
David
