Client Server CDS: Empower or Openlab?

Dear all,

There are 3 pieces of Agilent HPLC (1200*1, 1260*2), 4 pieces of Waters HPLC (2695*2, e2695*2) in my lab, which is regulated by US FDA.

We need a Client server CDS to control all the HPLCs. Basically, it is a choice between Empower and Openlab. I was told by local Agilent sales person that Openlab can not control e2695.

In terms of user friendliness, compliance, compatibility, what do you think the Pros and Cons for each of CDS?

Thanks very much,

Terry

I suspect that your Agilent rep has already pointed you toward the only solution in the option set you presented.

If you care to expand the set of possible solutions, you should probably consider Chromeleon as well. Chromeleon and Empower are both capable of controlling Agilent 1200 and Waters Alliance systems.

By the way, I also suspect that your Agilent rep is wrong, so long as your e2695 has the IEEE port in addition to ethernet on the back of it. This alone may be reason enough to stay away from Openlab as your local support may be lacking.

Interesting, we do control the Alliance, Acquity and the eAlliance under OpenLAB CDS EZChrom.
