How to perform specific absorbance

How can I perform specific absorbance of a particular drug substance? Which solvent to be used? Thanks.
Your compound is soluble in...........?????????
If Methanol is the solvent, run a UV Spectrum to see the maximum absorbance.
Try to use a solvent with a low UV cut off.
