Hello there, hoping that someone may have some experience/advice on the following:

We are currently looking to purchase LCMSMS systems for diagnosis and monitoring of diseases, measuring specifically plasma amino acids, acylcarnitines, hydroxy progesterone and the like. We have narrowed our search down to the Agilent 6460 and ABSCIEX QTRAP 5500. The Agilent 6460 looks like it may be a better option for method development, but as I have never used it before I am not sure. ABSCIEX looks like a good option as it has specific kits for resolving amino acids, which would be extremely useful, it would be great if someone has any experience of either of these to share to help us decide. Both look similar regarding sensitivity and accuracy.

Why do you say that?

Why are you comparing a 5500 QTrap to a standard triple from Agilent ?
Why not the standard 5500 ?
I can't comment on the systems as I haven't used them however for the applications listed in a hospital environment, method development is not usually high on the list of requirements. Here in the UK the methods are highly regulated and the dedicated software to report is essential. For this reason Sciex seem to have most of the market. You don't say where in the world you are perhaps if you did you might get some more useful responses
