Agilent 1100 without MSD remote timeout - help please

Hi everyone
we have an Agilent 1100 LC system with MSD (G1946B). The MSD has a problem and our service engineer is on holiday this week so I have tried to run the system without the MSD - and have failed.

I have configured the system without the MSD and changed the method so that no MSD signal is collected, but when I try to start a sequence the autosampler waits in remote and eventually timesout. The message is "waiting for ready on remote line".

I have tried (in desperation) changing the CAN lines, but suspect that the system wont start because it still needs a "ready signal" from the MSD?

Any ideas?

Chris

It is not possible to run the LC/MS Chemstation without the LC/MS.

You have to reinstall the Chemstation without the MSD (so just as LC) then this will work.

For this reason I have always a clean Win XP PC so I don't need to install a second software on the same PC. (Just to avoid incompatibilities.)

When reinstalling the software on another PC: Make sure you are installing bootp (when used) and check the IP/MAC adress configuration of the bootp settings.

When you use the same PC, this is not necessary.

Many thanks, That was what I was beginning to suspect. Very nice to have it confirmed and the idea of another computer as backup is great.

Thanks again
