Hi, again

During the time I test argon production at purity. I use FID detector with type of column DB 100 / 200 and CARBONEX 1000, Helium carrier gas. This time I want to analysis impurity argon as O2, CO, N2, SO, SO2, CH4, O2.
What having to me do, what column, carrier gas have to changing? Continue what its substitution?
Are there any friends of milist, which can assist?

Regards,

HI,

You need a little more than a other column:

a TCD, a Molsieve-Column and for best quantitative results a gas sampling valve, to prevent adsorption effects with SO2, CO2 and others a column switching unit is a good idea...

Write me, if You need more details

Your carboxen column will test for some of the impurities you desire, but better separation of the O2-N2 will be available on a Mole Sieve 5A column at subambient temperatures.

For trace impurities a Ionization discharge detector is suggested instead of a TCD which will not measure at very low levels to your satisfaction, try Valco or Gow-Mac .
