Hi All:

I am new to static headspace and have some questions about setting up a method from a syringe type autosampler (Combi-PAl to work on a loop type (Tekmar 7000).

First off I have a 6890N with an aux EPC and 2 free channels. Aux 5 is used to control my Agilent Quickswap system so 3&4 are currently unused. I haven't decided if I am better off connecting it putting it into the Inlet flow path or using a needle and the two aux's for pressure and transferline flow. It looks like it is tricky to hook it up in line and not have the transferline union interfer with my 7683 ALS as there is little room between the tray and tower.

The method I am trying to transfer is for Aldehydes.
2 ml injection from a 10ml headspace vial (obviouly I need a 2ml loop)
incubation 90 deg C 10 min
syringe 100 deg C
100 ul/sec pullup 1 sec delay
500 ul/s inject .5 sec post inj delay.
oven 50 deg C
Flow 0.5 ml/min He 10:1 split (not sure why they are so low I am planning to punch it up to 1-1.3 ml/min and probably a pulsed split)

The method is FID I am doing GC/MS SIM for maximum sensitivity.

I appreciate any suggestions.

Hi MSCHemist
I am Roger Bardsley, an Applications Chemist for Teledyne Tekmar, manufacturer of the 7000. Please contact TekmarSupport@teledyne.com to answer these questions. The transfer line connects throught the incoming gas line of the GC and there is typically enough room to allow the tower to stay in place. The 7000 has been replaced by the HT3 and parts like the optional 2 mL loop may or may not be available.

Best Regards
