Dear all.

Soon we are going to purchase a GC-MS in our lab.
I have experience with Agilent 5973 and 5973N (not the inert) and the thermo DSQ.
The DSQ had a lot of starting problems, so I am very bias not choosing this one.

I see that Agilent has a new MS, 5975, which is accoording to me, similar to the DSQ

My question:
- who uses the DSQ and what are the advantages or disadvantages
- who uses the 5973N inert and what are the advantages or disadvantages
- who uses th 5975 and what are the advantages or disadvantages

Also can you give me info about service.
The DSQ is sold by Interscience, the 5975 will be sold by Agilent.

with kind regards
Okkie

the 5975 has still some problem of degradation on the source with high mass like the 5973. The software is quite old now and who know what will happen with SSI ?

The DSQ is a good machine with some trouble especially when you want to exchange the ion volume. If you misalign the ion volume, you will have to shutdown, realign and restart and do a new calibration.

Have a look to the QP2010 from SHIMADZU. It is better than DSQ in term of
sensitivity and on maintenance. The software has also a lot of functionalities.
