Communicating between CP-4900 Micro GC and computer

So I have this Varian CP-4900 Micro Gas Chromatograph plugged into my computer via both an RS-232 port on COMM1 and a direct ethernet cable. On my computer I have an old version of Varian Star 6.41 WorkStation that I'm hoping will collect information from my GC unit, but I'm having difficulties getting the two to talk to each other. Clicking on the dropbar 'Instrument' and clicking 'setup Ethernet Communications' tells me that I have an IP address assigned to my GC with a status of "Not Responding". Under the same dropbar in the sub-selection titled 'Setup COMM ports' It gives me the options of 3400, 3600, 8200, CombiPAL, CP 2003, MultiPort, and RS-422/485 in a dropbar. Finally under the original 'Instrument' dropbar, under the option "Setup ADC Board I/O Ports" it takes me to a window that gives me the option to alter ADC board Addresses. However, the computer I'm currently using to run the software is not the computer that was originally designated for this GC unit (I think the professor who originally bought this unit back in 2003 took it with him when he transferred schools). I'm assuming my issue is that I'm just missing the ADC boards required for this program, but of such I'm definitely not certain. I can't say I know much about this GC unit and am just hoping to establish it's functionality and possibly use it in my research of off-gas treatment. So, if you have any information regarding the setup and operation of this unit with the software I have, I would appreciate it if you could pass it along to me.
