Hi everyone

I am an LC guy, but I was asked if it was possible to analyse isomers of octanol in n-octanol. Not by LC, I guess, but is it possible by GC?

Thanks Jörg

I had a quick look at the boiling points of the isomers. They are all quite similar so any seperation would have to be achieved exploiting differences in polarity. I am not sure if there will be enough variation. Faced with this mixture I would start with a wax or a 624 type column and see how things went.
