update firmware Agilent MS 5973N

Hello,

Yesterday I updated a Agilent MS 5973N from firmware 5.01.99 to 5.02.07. The download was succesfull. Instead of power cycling the MS to complete the update process, I reset the MS controller on the MSD control panel. I finally hard reset the MS, then
‘MS loading MSD firmware’ appeared on the display and froze. I tried to escape by pressing the NO/CANCEL button on the control panel but without effect. The MS controller get stuck. Apparently MS firmware cannot be found. Hard reset of the MS has no effect neither.

Has anybody experience to get out of this blockade and to redownload the MS firmware?

Thanks a lot,
Steven Andries

Having this exact same issue, see no replies here but what solution did you find to this problem? Anyone else have/had this problem and correct it?
Thanks!

Changing to Chemstation E02.02., such a firmware update is needed on one of our 5975C as well.

I called Agilent service how to proceed and where to get the update. They pointed out that issue to me. They can't control this randomly occurring freeze up for now and the only solution is to change some board inside MS hardware. At least that is their version of a work around...

Hi

Have you tried to load different MSD firmwares (from different CD with software).
I've had similar issue and I downgraded firmware to lowest version - it worked. And then I upgraded again to new one.

Hello,
Interesting... So you say, even the MS is in this mentioned freezed state, it is still possible to apply firmware?

Hi

I've had few issues with MSD "freezed state". Most of them were linked to interupted procedure (power shutdown or accidental clicking). I've fixed all by downgrading/upgrading firmware procedure.
