Headspace with Agilent 7697A and 7890A

Hi everyone,

We are using this common headspace and Gc combination from Agilent.

For ease of use, we installed the transfer line that comes with the headspace that allows the unit to be plumbed directly and permanently into our GC split/splitless inlet.

Most of the literature suggests that a small diameter (2 mm) or less straight liner is preferred for headspace work. We are using a low very split (5:1) or splitless injection

This next bit may not may sense unless you are familiar with the system itself - my apologies

We are not able to get a 2 mm liner into the injection port - The transfer line/septum assembly required when you plumb directly into the inlet has a metal piece at the bottom of the septum assembly. This connects to the liner but on our unit where we try to attach the assembly and then fix the septum assembly to the injector port using the 7890 flip top liner there is something wrong and the liner breaks. I wonder if the metal piece protruding from the septum assembly is off centre

Any hints or ideas
Thanks
Kevin

Where does the liner break? Is it chipping around the top edge or is it more severe?

It is chipping at the top rather than breaking into pieces.
