We had up to five 1050 systems. Only one is still in operation. The others didn't "die", supervisor just wanted to update to 1100 and 1200 systems and do LAN connections and OpenLab.

So 1050 systems are pretty reliable. Don't know about other brands. Older chemStation is fine, use on older computer. Your results will be just as accurate.

I had an PE200 system back in the '90s. I didn't mind the Turbo/TotalChrome. The one part that wasn't so reliable was the old style autosampler. Until it was on UPS it had frequent problems.

HP / Agilent has (and had) a much larger market share than PE, which means that spare parts availability should be better. Same comment applies to expertise: there are a lot more people with Chemstation experience who can give you answers here on the Forum.

Edit: I see from your other posts that you already have a 1050. Unless you're unhappy with it, it would make sense to get another one so you don't have to have two sets of spares, methods, etc.

The HP 1050 and chemstation is a much better system, easy to get parts for and very reliable. Please let me know if you would like me to provide you a quote on a refurbished 1050 system.
