Solvent Peak covers the analyte

Hi,
I am using Hexane as a solvent and my analytes are a mixture of FAMEs.
Everything looks good when injecting in Split injection.
When I do split-less injection the solvent peaks covers my 1st analyte peak.

Remain the split mode reducing the split ratio untill you acquire a value that permits aceptable resolution (separation) between the solvent peak and first analyte peak. I wish you got nice elutions!!

You only want to go splitless if the sensitivity of your analysis is poor. Splitless should be your first attempt because transfer of the analytes to the column will be more controlled.

If you really need to use splitless in order to get the required peak sizes, then try a shorter splitless time.

If you can get the sensitivity you need, your results will be better and you'll be happier.

How far out is your first FAME and what is your oven initial temperature?
