I am just starting to use MH and wanted to create some new MS methods. I cannot find the offline editor to do this. I am currently running the equipment so its not possible to create the methods live. Does MH have an offline editor?

Thanks.
Look in the Agilent folder in the all progams portion on the start menu. There is a folder called Acquisition Tools. It will be in there,
I just came here to ask the same question. Can anyone else confirm? There has to be an offline editor somewhere, but I can't find it or a mention of it in the interactive manuals. Our installation was maybe a little strange, but we have MH GCMS Acquisition SW B.07.01 and I do not see an Acquisition Tools folder in the Start menu's Agilent folder, or in the Agilent Technologies folder, or in Agilent GC and GC MS User Information folder.

Would the offline editor have been on a separate installation disc, or does it have another name?

Thanks!
Hi,

You can create an offline instrument that you can use to edit methods offline. Somewhere in the Start menu Agilent folder should be the 'Agilent GCMS Configuration'. Open it and configure a new instrument (up to 4 instruments can be configured, 1 should be already configured which is your online instrument) and select the 'offline' option for that instrument.

Once the new instrument is created a new subfolder will appear in your MassHunter directory, it will have the number of the instrument you configured. If 1 is your online instrument, and you configured a new instrument 2 as offline instrument, a folder named '2' will be created where it will save and look for methods, data, etc. if you don't change the path. Keep that in mind when editing methods, if you want to use them later with your online instrument. Either save or copy them later into the corresponding folder in the folder '1', or change your path to '2' when opening the method.

Thanks for the reply. We actually tried this with an Agilent engineer/trainer onsite, and due to multiple configuration mis-matches, the offline configuration would not work very well as a method editor. Since it was offline, the software wasn't polling the hardware and the modules in the offline config didn't match up with reality. The trainer had not done this before but was very surprised it didn't work -- so maybe there was a work around we didn't catch.
I have used offline method editor in LC/MS/MS (version 2014).
Very convenient !
