stuck sample onto cellulose

Hi,
I attached a polyene molecule to cellulose. I was wondering if anyone had an idea how to verify that it's there.

I tried UV light. Not sure which wavelength it was but it's the kind that microbiologists use on surfaces i think, maybe for crosslinking too.

I also tried I2, but it stained blank cellulose the same. I tried permanganate stain and those looked the same too.

Next try will be FTIR, but I tried it on cellulose before and got a poor spectrum.

Do you want to know if is chemically bonded or just absorbed? Out there on Spider Skull Island Jonas may have left an old Beckman for UV analysis.
A polyene with conjugated double bonds should have a good UV-vis absorbance. If you want to confirm chemical bonding there may not be much difference between bonded and absorbed.
