Hi all. I am currently working in the waste business using GC-FID(mainly organic solvents from phamachem industry). I need a "catch-all" method for anlysis of mixed solvent wastes. All the usual suspects ie EtOh, MeOh, IPA, DCM, ETAC etc... Any suggestions??

Ozric,
Possibly a 3 - 5 micron 30 m x 0.53 mm DB-624 column may give you all of the alanytes you need. We use one for general volatiles work with good results. Programmed from 40C (hold 3 mionutes) to about 200C should give you an excellent volatiles range.

Thanks Mark
I have the system running and identifying all components. What I need to do is quantify each component, I'm having trouble coming up with suitable standards!!

ozric,
If you are doing these by FID then you have to have the individual standards because of the large range in response factors from these various analytes. I don't really know of a practical way around this.
