Stuck on equilibration

Discussions about HPLC, CE, TLC, SFC, and other "liquid phase" separation techniques.

Hello all - I am new at your forum and an LC-novice.

I am having troubles with my LC-runs. My sample set starts with Equilibration for 30 minutes and should then go to Clear calibration and continue with the samples, but it does not anymore. It is just stuck on the equilibration. It has stopped after the equilibration is finished, but it has also lingered there until I tell it to stop, or tell it to continue on next line. Then it proceeds with the samples, but usually stops somewhere in the middle of a run.

What could be the cause of this?

I am using a Waters UPLC H-Class together with an electrochemical detector W2465 and the software is Empower3.
The problem is a bug in the Empower 3 software.

I thought I should share this in case someone else runs into this problem.
Did you find a work-around for it?

Strange...
Any messages in the message center, or in the acquistion clients Event viewer?

Maybe your ECD is running in a PAD overload sometimes?

You should try to figure out if this is to a faulty communication between acquisition client and LC, or to a real instrument failure.

Hello and sorry for the late reply.

I was told by Waters that this is a known bug in Empower 3 and the workaround is to use "Condition column" in stead of "Equilibrate".
Hope this can help someone.
