Thermo DSQ II GC-MS Ionization/Lens diagnostics failed

Hi everyone,

i'm having some trouble when running the diagnostics of the DSQ II GC/MS. After doing the cleaning procedure for the ions source assembly, and when I run the default diagnostics, the system fails to pass the "ionization/lens diagnostic". Furthermore, in spite of the filament was on, no scan was appeared and there was any fragment on the Xcaliber software. Can some explain me what is wrong with my GC/MS?? Thanks a lot!!

might be silly question, but are you sure al lenses are installed properly, all conections are made, and did you use the lens-allignement tool to reinstall the source?

What part of the diagnostics fail? Is it a lens that flatlines or filament current??

Most likely issue as mentioned is a poorly assembled source.. Could of course also be the PCB controlling the lenses but I would try reassembling the source first.

Thank you all,
I got a flatlines on Electron lens and Electron Energy only, and I had a failed results in Emission current and Leakage current.
I do not have an alignment tool for the lens so that I assemble the source without it.

Something is wrong with your Filament or more likely the Ion Source PCB. Worst case it still the big control PCB on the side panel.

I would start by looking at the source and verify that the pins from the filament are will seated in the ion source PCB (they go in TIGHT) and that there are no broken pins on the ions source PCB.. Also check for burn between the filament pins on the PCB.. If burnt you can scratch clear paths with a non metal column cutter between the pins..
