Help me please. To find assay of Triethylene glycol sample(pure) i have prepared and injected standard mixture of ethylene glycol(0.5%),Diethylene glycol(0.5%).triethylene glycol(98%),tetraethylene glycol(0.5%),and penta ethylene glycol (0.5%) on GC a,then run my sample against response factor calculated of the above standard,my question is the total of the result i got is not 100%,it is about 97% total ,should i normalise to 100% or what? please your help is welcome.
thanks.

Concentrations of the i-st analyzed compound are calculated in accordance with the following formula
Ci(%)=Ai*RRFi/Sum(Ai*RRFi)*100,
RRFi=(Ci(st)/Ai(st))/(Cmc(st)/Amc(st)), (RRFi - relative responce factor for the i-st compound), RRFmc for main compound is equal to 1.
where Ci(st) and Ai(st) – are concentration and responce (for example, peak area) of the i-st compound in standard mixture, Cmc(st) and Amc(st) - are concentration and responce of the main compound (triethylene glycol) in standard mixture,
You may send me chromatogram of your standard mixture and chromatogram of analysed mixture to the e-mail unichrom@unichrom.com and I will explain results in details.
